SAKHI

Sakhi for South Asian Women exists to represent the South Asian diaspora in a survivor-led movement for gender-justice and to honor the collective and inherent power of all survivors of violence. Sakhi is committed to serving survivors through a combination of efforts including—but not limited to—direct services, advocacy and organizing, technical assistance, and community outreach. Khan’s Tutorial is proud to support Sakhi’s mission to empower survivors of violence and works to donate space in the local community for meetings, talks, and other activities of the organization.

“Thanks to Khan’s Tutorials we had a lovely space for our annual summer camp for our clients’s children. During the camp participants explored emotional and social awareness, racial stereotypes, unfair beauty standards, and restrictive gender expectations. This collaboration between Sakhi, Khan’s and the NYC Children’s theater was truly transformative for the young people who left with tools to protect themselves and say “no” to unwanted touch or affection. Khan’s Tutorial’s is such a welcoming community space that is invaluable to our work here at Sakhi.” – Fyzah Tajdin, Youth Empowerment Advocate, Sakhi
