Khan Foundation Celebrates Third Year of College Access Program with Graduation Ceremony

Queens, NY— Last week, scholars in Khan Foundation’s College Access Program celebrated their graduation. The ceremony took place at the Harvest Room in Jamaica, Queens. The College Access Program works closely with 12th grade low-income Queens residents and their families to help students find, apply, and get into competitive colleges while helping them secure scholarships. Special guests in attendance include Akshar Patel, Community Liason for Councilman Daneek Miller, Mizan Chowdhury, Candidate for Congress, and Horace Davis, Founder of the Caribbean American Society of NY.

Khan’s Tutorial High School Achievement Program celebrates 776 College Acceptances

“We are so thrilled for our KT seniors who received their college acceptance news! We’ve heard of some impressive acceptances to prestigious schools like Yale, Columbia, Cornell, and NYU. Congratulations to the seniors and their families. Khan’s Tutorial Annual Awards Ceremony Celebrates 371 SHSAT Accepted Students

Queens, NY – On April 8th, 2018, Khan’s Tutorial (KT) hosted its Annual Awards Ceremony for students who gained acceptance to NYC’s Specialized High Schools. Students and their families gathered at the Colden Auditorium at Queens College to celebrate a year of hard work and the resulting success at KT’s largest event of the year.

Khan’s Tutorial High School Achievement Program Students Receive High Scores on March 2018 SATs

“We are so excited for our students who scored well on their March 2018 SATs! We are proud of students such as Fahmida Akther, Ahnaf Hasan, and Tanjum Lagno, who scored 1560, 1520, and 1470, respectively. Our highly trained SAT Instructors, led by KT’s very own SAT Manager Jessan Jishu, all work from a customized SAT curriculum. We make sure our students are increasing their SAT exam scores by enforcing consistent student attendance, implementing a rigorous daily study schedule, and conducting bi-monthly Parent Teacher Conferences. With SATs just around the corner, we can’t wait to see how well our students will score on their upcoming exams!” said Ms. Tasneem Imam Khan, Director of KT’s High School Achievement Program.

Khan’s Tutorial Chairperson Mrs. Nayeema Khan receives record breaking 12 Proclamations at 5th Annual Prestigious Women’s Gala Awards

New York, New York March 20, 2018 – Last week, Mrs. Nayeema Khan, Chairperson of Khan’s Tutorial was awarded by the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter at the Annual Prestigious Women’s Gala Awards. The National Action Network has been a leading civil rights organization fighting for social issues mostly focusing on equal opportunity. In addition to a crystal trophy from the National Action Network Mrs. Khan received an astounding 12 different government recognitions at the ceremony.

Khan’s Tutorial Helps 357 (and Counting!) SHSAT Students Gain Acceptance to NYC’s Esteemed Specialized High Schools

New York, NY – March 13, 2018 – Last Wednesday marked the release of the results of the Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT), the sole determinant of admission into New York City’s prestigious Specialized High Schools. Stuyvesant High School, Bronx High School of Science, and Brooklyn Technical High School offer acceptances to a total of about 3,000 students per year out of 30,000 students who take the challenging exam.

High Achieving Khan’s Tutorial Student, Tanvir C., Receives Acceptance to Johns Hopkins University

Khan’s Tutorial would like to congratulate student Tanvir C. for his acceptance to Johns Hopkins University. Tanvir is also waiting on news from an Ivy League School sometime next month. A long time student at KT, Tanvir started classes as a second grader and later returned for SAT classes. Through KT’s SAT program led by Columbia graduate Ms. Tasneem Imam Khan. Tanvir scored a 1520 on his first SAT attempt and later super scored at 1560. He currently maintains a 105 GPA at William C. Bryant High School and plans to pursue a career in the sciences.

Khan’s Tutorial Student Iftida Faria Wins 1st Place for NYU Rise for Rohingya Essay Contest

Manhattan NY – Last week, Khan’s Tutorial student and Brooklyn Tech Junior, Iftida Faria, won 1st place in the John Sexton Essay Contest for The Rise for Rohingya Campaign. The contest invited all NYC high school students to participate in a creative essay challenge about the humanitarian crisis in Myanmar.  In her award-winning essay, Iftida spoke about how high school students could help Rohingya refugees. As first place winner, Iftida received a $300 Amazon gift card, a plaque from New York University President Emeritus, John Sexton, and was featured on the Rise for Rohingya website.

Khan’s Tutorial Hosts Leadership Training for Instructors, Quality Managers, and Directors

New York, NY – To start of the new year, Khan’s Tutorial held Leadership Training at its headquarters at KT Sutphin. Khan’s Tutorial holds regular training sessions for Instructors, Quality Managers, Data Managers, and Directors across its 11 locations. Training sessions help KT leaders better serve students and parents by reviewing changes made to standardized exams, best practices, and strategies.
