Stuyvesant High School hosts Workshop for Bangladeshi Families at KT Jackson Heights

New York, NY – Last month, Stuyvesant High School invited Bengali families from Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan for a free parent workshop. Parents of current Stuyvesant students gathered to discuss maximizing the high school experience and planning for college. The workshop was hosted by Dina Ingram, Director of Family Engagement, Jennifer Suri, Assistant Principal, Eric Contreras, Principal of Stuyvesant, and Dr. Ivan Khan, CEO, and President of Khan’s Tutorial. It included discussions about what students should currently be focusing on in school. Some examples of this were figuring out electives, financial aid, accessing grades, picking classes, and navigating through student portals like Naviance.

Khan’s Tutorial Hosts Leadership Training for Rising Managers and Directors

Queens, NY– This week Khan’s Tutorial held its winter leadership training session at its headquarters at KT Sutphin. During the week of training, top Khan’s Tutorial Instructors learn how to help better serve the students in their respective branches in leadership roles. Furthermore, they learn key principles in teaching, leadership, and management. In preparation of upcoming exams, trainees are taught how to increase the quality of learning to ensure all students are prepared. Khan’s Tutorial values being a company in the community that can offer mentorship and guidance to students and parents.This year, Khan’s Tutorial invited special guest Ani Sanyal, CEO of Green Room Creative and Co-Founder of Kolkata Chai Company. Sanyal shared his experiences as a South Asian business owner and spoke to trainees about purpose driven leadership and the importance of uplifting one’s community.”Khan’s Tutorial has so much potential to be a cultural force and shake up equity in education and reclaim how our people and other minorities play the social mobility game,” said Ani Sanyal.

Khan’s Tutorial Hosts Cultural Themed Holiday Party for Teammates

Queens, NY – Last weekend Khan’s Tutorial hosted its annual staff Holiday Party. This year the themes for the party were culture, representation, and empowerment. Directors, Managers, and Instructors from Khan’s Tutorial’s 10 locations gathered at Gulshan Terrace in Queens to celebrate a year of hard work.

Khan’s Tutorial Celebrates 1,420 Students Who Scored 4/4 On Their Common Core Exams

New York, NY – Last month Khan’s Tutorial celebrated its students who received perfect 4/4 scores on their Common Core Exams. The total of perfect Common Core scores has reached 1,420, shattering last year’s record of 1,031. This past weekend Khan’s Tutorial hosted its final Common Core Celebrations for the year at KT Castle Hill and KT Parkchester in the Bronx. Part of the Celebrations included small raffles for free movie tickets for KT families, as well as a larger raffle for a free 50 inch Samsung smart television. The family of Aiden N. from KT Richmond Hill has been picked as the raffle winner.

DREAMChasers, an organization founded by Bronx Science Alum, Attorney Jason Clark provides SHSAT tutoring and mentorship for students from underrepresented backgrounds. As the tutoring partner of DREAMChasers, Khan’s Tutorial’s goal is to ensure all students, regardless of zip code or school funding, have an opportunity to attend NYC’s top public high schools.

New York, NY – Earlier this week DREAMChasers and Khan’s Tutorial’s SHSAT program were featured on Spectrum NY1 News. DREAMChasers, an organization founded by Bronx Science Alum, Attorney Jason Clark provides SHSAT tutoring and mentorship for students from underrepresented backgrounds. As the tutoring partner of DREAMChasers, Khan’s Tutorial’s goal is to ensure all students, regardless of zip code or school funding, have an opportunity to attend NYC’s top public high schools. Due to the success of the program, DREAMChasers plans to expand to Southeast Queens next year.

Khan’s Tutorial helps 1,305 Students Score a Perfect 4/4 on their Common Core Exams

New York, NY – This week, Khan’s Tutorial has collected a record breaking 1,305 Perfect Scores from students in its Common Core Program. All students who received a perfect score on their state exams will be invited to a Common Core Celebration at their respective Khan’s Tutorial branches. This weekend, current Common Core students will be taking the first diagnostic practice exam of the school year. Families are encouraged to start preparing now for the Spring Common Core Exams.

Mayor Bill De Blasio Now Open to Keeping SHSAT Exam

New York, NY — Last week, Mayor Bill De Blasio admitted his plan to eliminate the SHSAT was flawed saying, “The attempt we made to address it was just not effective and we have to come to grips with that and I have to take responsibility for that.” The Mayor and Richard A. Carranza, Education Chancellor of New York, pushed for the removal of the SHSAT as well as Gifted and Talented Programs across the city. The Mayor’s intention was to diversify the Specialized High Schools and increase the amount of black and Hispanic students.

Manhattan, NY – Earlier this week, Mrs. Nayeema Khan, Chairperson of Khan’s Tutorial was honored at the United Nations Headquarters for her work under Sustainable Development Goal #4, Education. The event was held by the World Award Foundation and the Nigerian Permanent Mission for the 150th Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. Mrs. Khan also serves as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Education in addition to her role at Khan’s Tutorial.
