On June 13th at KT Parkchester, New York State Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda honored several KT students with awards for their outstanding academic achievements as well as Khan’s Tutorial for their amazing work in education. This past year KT helped 185 students gain acceptance to NYC’s Specialized High Schools. Assemblyman Sepulveda honored several of these students from KT Castle Hill and KT Parkchester by hosting a celebration for their families.

Additionally, along with Dr. Mansur Khan and Mrs. Nayeema Khan, Assemblyman Sepulveda honored Kristin Santana, one of the winners of KT’s Opportunity Scholarship. The scholarship was launched by Dr. Ivan Khan in order to help underrepresented communities gain admission to the Specialized High Schools. KT awarded this scholarship to 18 students, 2 from each of their 9 locations. The scholarship will cover a full year of SHSAT preparation, mentorship, and high school application counseling for Kristin.

In addition to hosting the celebration, Assemblyman Sepulveda was able to speak with current SHSAT students and meet with KT Staff to commend them for their work.

Rafid Azad, Director of KT Castle Hill said, “We’re so thankful that Assemblyman Sepulveda hosted this wonderful celebration honoring our students. They work so hard throughout the school year and it’s important that we recognize their dedication and success with their families.”

With 9 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, including Brooklyn, the Bronx, Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Ozone Park, and Floral Park, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income neighborhoods. A total of 1,625 students have gained admission to New York City’s Specialized High Schools through Khan’s Tutorial since its inception in 1994.
