On April 30th, 2016, Khan’s Tutorial (KT) hosted its Annual SHSAT Awards Ceremony for their students who gained acceptance to NYC’s Specialized High Schools. Just weeks ago, the results of the SHSAT were released across NYC. This week, accepted students and their families gathered to celebrate a year of hard work and the resulting success at KT’s largest event of the year.
Over the last 22 years, KT has helped over 2,215 students gain admission to these schools. This year alone, KT helped 336 students gain acceptance to the new Specialized High Schools, as well as Stuyvesant High School, the Bronx High School of Science, and Brooklyn Technical High School, shattering last year’s record of 254.
During the ceremony, Khan’s Tutorial recognized:
- the eight recipients of the Dr. Mansur Khan SHSAT Opportunity Scholarship
- the ten accomplished 9th grade accepted students,
- KT High Scorer, Sudat Khan.
- Directors & Instructors for their great achievement in helping KT students improve academically throughout the year.

“We are proud that Khan’s Tutorial’s SHSAT results keep us as the leading tutorial for admissions to Stuyvesant High School, the Bronx High School of Science, Brooklyn Technical High School, and the new Specialized High Schools. This September, 8 % of the entering freshman class at Stuyvesant will be Khan’s students. At Bronx Science, Khan’s students will comprise 13% of the entering class, and at Brooklyn Tech, that number is 9%, making Bengali the SECOND most common foreign language spoken at Specialized High Schools after Mandarin Chinese. I want to personally thank Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte as well as many of our other honored guests, for taking the time to attend our awards ceremony and celebrate the success of our students and families. With 10 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, including Brooklyn, the Bronx, Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Sutphin, Astoria, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill and Floral Park, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families from low-income and new immigrant backgrounds. A total of 2,215 students have gained admission to New York City’s Specialized High Schools through Khan’s Tutorial since its inception in 1994.
