“Thankful I had an opportunity to tour Khan’s Tutorial in Brooklyn. Always inspiring to speak with young people with a passion for learning. Alongside dedicated educators, generous staff, and engaged young people, I aim to help ignite that passion in as many young New Yorkers as possible,” said Senator Jesse Hamilton.

Senator Hamilton and his team visited KT Brooklyn with Community Education Advocate Stanley Ng, as well as former Stuyvesant High School Parent Association President Wai Wah Chin. Ms. Chin is the mother of 4 Stuyvesant graduates and is an active member of New York’s education advocate community.

The Senator congratulated KT’s Opportunity Scholarship winners and spoke to students about the recent changes made to the SHSAT. Additionally, the Senator spoke with KT Senior Teammates about expansion plans for KT’s renowned SHSAT program to other underserved neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Finally, the Senator discussed working with Khan’s Tutorial to increase diversity at the Specialized High Schools by raising awareness about the exam and encouraging students to prepare.

“At Khan’s Tutorial our belief is that all people should educate themselves for life – Senator Hamilton’s visit was a reflection of just that. When he explained to our 7th Grade SHSAT students that he is a State Senator, an attorney, and that he received his MBA in finance, all of our students’ motivation levels went through the roof. We are so grateful that Senator Hamilton had a chance to inspire our students this weekend and we look forward to working with his office to increase awareness about the SHSAT and prep for all NYC communities,” said Dr. Ivan Khan, CEO & President of Khan’s Tutorial.

With 10 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and in the Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Ozone Park, and Floral Park neighborhoods of Queens, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income, new immigrant neighborhoods. Over 2,217 students have gained admission to New York City’s Specialized High Schools through Khan’s Tutorial since its inception in 1994.
