October 24, 2017 – New York, New York – Last week, Khan’s Tutorial CEO & President Dr. Ivan Khan obtained a Certificate in Business Excellence from Columbia University Business School’s Executive Education program. The certificate program was inspired by Columbia Business School’s world-renowned MBA program, covering the full spectrum of critical business subjects with a specific focus on developing leadership abilities.
The Executive Development Program connects practitioners, experts, and business school professors with a diverse group of students to teach courses on management, strategy, and leadership. Dr. Khan’s business school classmates included executives from global companies such as Apple, Google, SalesForce, Toyota, Nike, and Deloitte Consulting.
“I made the decision to apply to Columbia Business School after reviewing top colleges for KT’s High School program. Every year, Khan’s Tutorial is increasingly sending our high school students to Columbia University & Barnard College. I can only dream that my daughter Arianna & son Ian gain acceptance to Columbia when they reach high school. When I remembered that their mother also holds a Columbia Master’s Degree, I wanted our two kids to have two Columbia alum as parents not one.
Personal family goals aside, it has always been my dream to learn about management, leadership, and strategy more formally. Dr. Ackerman holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and has consulted with Fortune 500 companies globally. The marketing portion of the program was led by former Senior Vice Dean and Director of the Columbia Business School Behavioral Lab, Gita Johar. Management & Strategy portions were also led by Industry leader Peter Meola. Prior to joining Columbia’s faculty he was a Group Executive at BP PLC (British Petroleum), and CEO of their Americas Lubricant Division, where he led a cross-cultural and cross-functional employee base with operations in over 20 countries.
Classes at the Columbia University campus covered strategies on making an impact on your work and focusing on the customer experience which is important to all leaders from Khan’s Tutorial. Additionally, the program provided discussions, simulations, workshop activities, and exercises to identify opportunities for improving leadership capabilities and successfully managing individual and organizational performance.
