Khan’s Tutorial Chairperson Mrs. Nayeema Khan is honored by UNESCO at the United Nations for Outstanding Contribution to Education

New York, NY – September 20, 2017 –Khan’s Tutorial Chairperson Mrs. Nayeema Khan and CEO & President Dr. Ivan Khan were recently invited to the United Nations’ Peace Culture & Health Forum – President & First Lady’s Formal Awards Ceremony – at the United Nations Head Quarters. Yiling Li, President of UNESCO Association of New York, honored Mrs. Nayeema Khan with the Outstanding Contribution to Education Award for her leadership at Khan’s Tutorial.

“It is an honor to see my mother Mrs. Nayeema Khan receive this recognition from the United Nations NGO UNESCO for her leadership at Khan’s Tutorial. Her tireless work helped her become selected for her Outstanding Contribution to Education. As one of the company’s founding leaders, my mother’s oversight of our SHSAT, Common Core, and SAT programs has helped tens of thousands of Khan’s students to succeed in their academics from all communities. It was a proud moment for everyone at Khan’s Tutorial given the grand United Nations General Assembly meeting that is taking place currently. Due to the UN Assembly, my mother had a chance to share the day with fellow honorees Congressman Gregory Meeks from Jamaica, Queens & the Nigerian Ambassador to the UN mission,” said Dr. Ivan Khan, CEO & President of Khan’s Tutorial.

Other attendees included ambassadors, first ladies, political congressmen, financial captains of the industry, and accomplished artists.

With 10 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and in the Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Ozone Park, and Floral Park neighborhoods of Queens, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income, new immigrant neighborhoods. Over 2,615 students have gained admission to New York City’s Specialized High Schools through Khan’s Tutorial since its inception in 1994.
