Queens NY, – Later this month, Mrs. Nayeema Khan, Chairperson of Khan’s Tutorial and recently appointed UN Goodwill Ambassador, will be hosting an educational workshop for mothers at Khan’s Tutorial’s brand new SAT & Regents Location in Jackson Heights. The event is in celebration of International Women’s Day and aims to empower families, particularly mothers of children grades 7-12, through education. The free workshop will feature special guests, a speaker’s panel, and will teach South Asian, new immigrant mothers about parenting.
The event will take place on March 30th, 2019 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at 37-26 74th St 2nd Floor (across the street from Patel Brothers/Indian Taj Restaurant).
“”The involvement of mothers and fathers is critical to the success of any child in NYC, especially families from immigrant backgrounds. I personally remember the role that my parents Dr. Mansur Khan and Mrs. Nayeema Khan played in helping me get through my academics and my youth as a teenager. I really hope this free community workshop allows for greater dialogue between mothers who’ve gone through the teenage years to those that are experiencing it now. We look forward to seeing dozens of mothers on Saturday, March 30th,” said Dr. Ivan Khan, CEO & President of Khan’s Tutorial.
With 11 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and in the Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Sunnyside, Ozone Park, and Floral Park neighborhoods of Queens, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income, new immigrant neighborhoods. Since 1994, Khan’s Tutorial has helped 2,998 students gain admission to New York City’s Specialized High Schools.
