Khan’s Tutorial Student Gets Accepted to Columbia University

Khan's Tutorial Student with Columbia Acceptance.

New York, NY – April 10, 2019 – Late last month, KT Student Tasnima Zaman was accepted to Columbia University. Currently she is a student at the highly selective Trinity School and plans to study political science and economics during her time at Columbia. Tasnima was a star student in Khan’s Tutorial’s SAT Program and received one of the highest scores in her class.

“From the moment Tasnima joined my SAT class in the Summer of 2017, I knew she had a bright future ahead of her. Tasnima was always eager to learn, participate, and help out her peers. At Khan’s, Tasnima’s SAT score increased over 100 points as she received a 1530 on her actual SAT! I am very proud of her and all that she has accomplished so far and look forward to seeing her make waves at Columbia,” said Instructor Nazim Chowdhury.

“We’re thrilled for Tasnima’s acceptance to Columbia University! As a Barnard College and Columbia University grad myself, I know that Tasnima will thrive in such a rigorous and enriching educational environment. I’d also like to congratulate our 22 students who scored a 1300+ on their SATs this year, five of which scored above a 1500, like Tasnima,” said Ms. Tasneem Imam Khan, Director of the High School Achievement Program.

With 11 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and in the Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Sunnyside, Ozone Park, and Floral Park neighborhoods of Queens, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income, new immigrant neighborhoods. Over 3,362 students have gained admission to New York City’s Specialized High Schools through Khan’s Tutorial since its inception in 1994.
