Stuyvesant High School Hosts Parent Workshop for Bengali Parents at Khan’s Tutorial’s SAT & Regents Center in Jackson Heights

Jackson Heights, NY – Last weekend, leaders from Stuyvesant High School hosted a Parent Workshop for Bengali families at Khan’s Tutorial’s SAT & Regents Center. The workshop, lead by Ms. Casey J. Pedrick, Assistant Principal & Pupil Personnel Services and Ms. Dina Ingram, Director of Family Engagement was intended to help families understand Stuyvesant coursework, maximize parent resources and tools, and navigate the college application process. Parents were able to ask Stuyvesant teachers and guidance counselors questions and hear from Stuyvesant students and alumnus about their high school experience. Khan’s Tutorial provided space for the event as well as translation services for attendees.

With 11 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and in the Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Sunnyside, Ozone Park, and Floral Park neighborhoods of Queens, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income, new immigrant neighborhoods. A total of 3,383 students have received offers to New York City’s Specialized High Schools through Khan’s Tutorial since its inception in 1994.
