Khan’s Tutorial Celebrates Successful Regents, SAT, and College Accepted Students at Annual SAT & Regents Awards Ceremony

Queens, NY – On Thursday, August 8th, Khan’s Tutorial hosted its SAT and Regents Awards Ceremony and Dinner at Joya Hall. The SAT & Regents program at Khan’s Tutorial is led by Ms. Tasneem Imam Khan, MPH, a graduate of Barnard College with a Master’s Degree from Columbia University. During the ceremony Khan’s Tutorial celebrated its High School students who achieved high scores on their Regents and SATs as well as those who gained admission to Ivy League schools and top colleges. 

The ceremony celebrated:

– 224 SAT students who scored a above a 1300 on their SATs this past year, with 180 scoring above 1400 and 50 scoring above 1500. 

– 187 Khan’s Tutorial students who received a 90+ on their NYS Regents Exams.

– KT High Scorer Adib Rafi who scored 1580 on his SATs. Top scorers include Sabiha Obaid, Rakeeb Hossain, Leah James, and Kamalpreet Kaur, who all attained a 1560 on their SATs. 

– Countless Khan’s Tutorial seniors who gained acceptance into competitive colleges and universities across the nation such as Harvard, Cornell, Macaulay Honors, NYU and Columbia University.

Before the ceremony, Khan’s Tutorial held a college fair for students and parents. The fair included admissions leaders from CUNY School of Medicine / Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, Macaulay Honors College, and St. John’s University. The college fair gave exclusive access to Khan’s Tutorial’s students and families to meet with admissions leaders, ask questions and get the inside scoop on some of the top colleges in the nation.

“This past year marked an incredible journey for Khans’ SAT & Regents Program. Tonight that journey reaches a milestone celebration to rejoice in the hundreds of students who scored competitively on their SATs and Regents, as well as our students who gained acceptance to amazing schools. During the ceremony we celebrated students like Tasnima Zaman who gained acceptance to Columbia University. We also honored students like Adib Rafi who scored a near perfect 1580 on his SATs. As we reach our 25th year of operation, I am inspired by the hard work our families put in every day, and the resulting success of our students,” said Dr. Ivan Khan, CEO & President of Khan’s Tutorial

“We are so proud of our high scoring Regents, SAT and College Accepted students who are achieving academic success through Khan’s Tutorial. It was so rewarding to celebrate our students’ achievements with their families after working hard all year. We’re proud to say that over 93% of our consistently attending students scored above the 90th percentile in all 2019 SATs. High school is not an easy path to navigate, which is why we are excited to mentor and guide our students towards fulfilling their academic endeavors,” said the Director of High School Achievement Program, Ms. Tasneem Imam Khan.

With 11 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and in the Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Sunnyside, Ozone Park, and Floral Park neighborhoods of Queens, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income, new immigrant neighborhoods. Since 1994, Khan’s Tutorial has helped 3,383 students gain admission to New York City’s Specialized High Schools.
