Khan’s Tutorial Hosts High School Students and Parents for a Free College Admissions Workshop & College Fair

Dr. Ivan Khan speaking to parents during the SAT College Admissions Workshop.

Queens, NY – On Sunday, August 18th, Khan’s Tutorial hosted high school students and their parents for a free college admissions workshop led by Dr. Ivan Khan. The event was open to all high school students in 11th and 12th grades. The purpose of the workshop was to make the college admissions process easier for an offer to a top university.

Along with Dr. Khan, student representatives from Sophie Davis/CUNY School of Medicine, New York University, Macaulay Honors College, Barnard College, Cornell University and other top universities answered questions, gave admissions advice, and told their stories about how they received an offer to their university to the roughly 100 students and parents that attended.

“Getting into a top university is a dream for many immigrant families. One of the most important things we promote is heavy parental involvement. Parents who are able to attend workshops like these, are doing the right thing in being a part of their children’s education. I was extremely proud of the nearly 100 students and parents that attended. We look forward to seeing everyone return to our fall SAT courses when we will have future workshops on getting into the best college.” said Dr. Ivan Khan.

Khan’s Tutorial also hosted a college fair at their Annual SAT and Regents Dinner, with admissions representatives from Sophie Davis/CUNY School of Medicine, Macaulay Honors College, and St. John’s University.

With 10 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and in the Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Ozone Park, and Floral Park neighborhoods of Queens, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income, new immigrant neighborhoods. Since 1994, Khan’s Tutorial has helped 3,383 students gain admission to New York City’s Specialized High Schools.
