Manhattan, NY – Earlier this week, Mrs. Nayeema Khan, Chairperson of Khan’s Tutorial was honored at the United Nations Headquarters for her work under Sustainable Development Goal #4, Education. The event was held by the World Award Foundation and the Nigerian Permanent Mission for the 150th Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. Mrs. Khan also serves as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Education in addition to her role at Khan’s Tutorial.
“Recently we helped more than 1,100 students obtain perfect scores on their Common Core Exams. For over 25 years my mother has recognized that an excellent education must start early in life and that middle school education is critical as most families start to think about high school options. We are grateful to the Nigerian permanent mission for this recognition in our journey to achieve upward mobility for South Asians, Latinx, African, and Asian allies and communities,” said Dr. Ivan Khan, CEO & President of Khan’s Tutorial.
With 10 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and in the Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Ozone Park, and Floral Park neighborhoods of Queens, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income, new immigrant neighborhoods. Since 1994, Khan’s Tutorial has helped 3,383 students receive offers to New York City’s Specialized High Schools.
