Khan’s Tutorial SHSAT Student Gains Acceptance to Esteemed Program at Prep for Prep

QueensNY – July 5, 2017 – Khan’s Tutorial Jackson Heights student Ahanaf Tajwar, was recently accepted to the prestigious Prep 9 Program for 7th graders at Prep for Prep. Prep for Prep is a free program which helps academically gifted African American, Latino, and Asian American students excel at top schools across the US. Accepted students benefit from a rigorous 14-month course, college guidance, financial aid sessions, and recreational trips. After completing the Prep 9 program students earn a seat at leading boarding schools across the Northeast.  Admissions to Prep 9  is very competitive as students (nominated by their school), are expected to have stellar attendance and punctuality records, score 325+ on ELA reading or 324+ on Math Common Core exams, and have report card grade averages that are 90% or higher. 

Khan’s Tutorial student Ahanaf Tajwar was one of 75 students selected out of 4,000 students tested.  Additionally Ahanaf was a top 10 student in Khan’s Tutorial Jackson Height’s SHSAT class and hoped to gain acceptance to Stuyvesant High School.

“While KT’s renowned SHSAT program is well known for helping students gain acceptance to NYC’s Specialized High Schools, we are very proud of Ahanaf’s achievement and support him and his family in this amazing opportunity and unique high school pathway,” said Mrs. Nayeema Khan, Khan’s Tutorial Chairperson. 

With 10 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and in the Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Ozone Park, and Floral Park neighborhoods of Queens, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income, new immigrant neighborhoods. Over 2,610 students have gained admission to New York City’s Specialized High Schools through Khan’s Tutorial since its inception in 1994.
